Teniqua Treetops, taking glamping to new heights, anywhere between 2 and 6 meters above the forest floor. A unique forest retreat, your home away from home and your neighbours out of site. Take a trip back to nature in our 3-star self-catering tented accommodation along the famous Garden Route.
4 couple suites, 2 deluxe couples’ suites and 2 family suites, all over 50 meters apart from each other. Nestled either in the gorge or surrounded by the forest, each hand crafted and unique in their offering, but all allow for time in nature to rejuvenate the soul.
The closest town, shop and restaurant is 20 minutes away, so be sure to stock up with groceries on your way.
Each suite is a combination of tent, wood and glass and built in the gorge or forest on stilts ranging from two to six meters above ground giving you breath-taking views of the Karatara Gorge or the majestic Knysna Forest. Access to the treetop suite is from ground level.
Please be aware that you are going to be in the bush. This is not a manicured environment; it is part of the forest. We won’t, don’t, can’t fumigate the forest … so if you are someone who doesn’t have phobias about flora or fauna; trees, plants, birds, wild animals, insects, spiders, snakes, butterflies, moths, tame animals …… Teniqua Treetops is the holiday destination for you.

Activities at Teniqua Treetops
We offer a variety of activities at the resort. Our guests often plan to visit local attractions, but sometimes, once they arrive, they do not leave. It is a beautiful place to relax and soak in the tranquillity.
Wander down to De’ Adder Padda our onsite bush pub and enjoy a drink a two by the pool. Relax while the kids play on the jungle gym, chase the ducks, chickens, peacock and peahen.
Challenge your partner or friends to a pool game, darts, or foosball.
Walk through the forest or take an invigorating trip down to the gorge and swim in the cola-coloured water of the remote and unspoiled Karatara river. Picnic on its beautiful banks and explore the deep forested gorge.
The on-site Art studio offers figurine painting and sand art, make your selection at reception and head down to the art studio. If the kids are looking to feed the farm animals, feed bags can also be purchased at reception.
Teniqua Treetops is a bird-watching paradise, each treetop suite is a bird hide. We get over a 100 different varieties of birds. Awaken each morning to the sensual dawn chorus.

What is Teniqua Treetops?

Is Teniqua Treetops “eco-friendly”? What makes it sustainable?
Yes — sustainability is central to Teniqua’s ethos. Their tree-houses are built on stilts to minimise disturbance to the forest floor; the timber used is from sustainably managed farms. Water is drawn from the Karatara River and passed through a 10-stage eco-filtration system (chemical-free) for drinking; waste water and laundry by-products are reused for toilets and irrigation. They use a mix of solar power, gas, and grid electricity, and aim to increase solar usage to reduce reliance on the main grid. Household detergents and guest amenities are biodegradable; recycling and composting are part of their waste management approach.
